YourStory is designed with privacy at its core. We believe your personal thoughts and reflections should remain private. This policy explains how we handle your data with care and transparency.

We collect only what is necessary to provide you with a seamless journaling experience, and we never sell your personal information.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name. This information is used solely for account management and communication about your subscription.

Journal Entries

Your journal entries, including text, mood selections, and any attached media, are stored securely. This content is encrypted and accessible only by you.

Usage Data

We collect anonymized usage data to improve the app experience. This includes feature usage patterns, app performance metrics, and crash reports. This data cannot be used to identify you personally.

iCloud Sync

YourStory uses Apple iCloud to sync your journal entries across your devices. When enabled, your data is stored in your personal iCloud account, protected by Apple's security infrastructure.

You can disable iCloud sync at any time in the app settings. Your data will then be stored locally on your device only.

Analytics

We use privacy-focused analytics to understand how users interact with YourStory. All analytics data is anonymized and aggregated. We do not track individual behavior or create user profiles.

You can opt out of analytics collection in the app settings at any time.

Data Security

Your journal entries are encrypted both in transit and at rest. We use industry-standard encryption protocols to ensure your thoughts remain private and secure.

Our team does not have access to read your journal entries. Only you can decrypt and view your personal content.

Your Rights

You have complete control over your data. You can:

• Export all your journal entries at any time
• Delete individual entries or your entire account
• Access a copy of all data we have about you
• Opt out of analytics and non-essential data collection
• Request correction of any inaccurate personal information

Third-Party Services

YourStory integrates with the following third-party services:

• Apple iCloud for data synchronization
• Apple App Store for subscription management
• Google Play Store for Android subscription management

Each service has its own privacy policy that governs their handling of your data.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all personal data is permanently removed within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain certain information.

Anonymized, aggregated data may be retained for analytical purposes but cannot be connected back to you.

Children's Privacy

YourStory is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately.

Policy Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email. Your continued use of YourStory after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
